Janet & Riley: Week 12, Stair Exam 11/15/19

We practiced walking with the dumb bell along the sidewalk, and Riley was still hesitant to go forward. Jeanne suggested urging her on by holding her chain collar rather than pulling the leash. Success!





This was the first time going up and down the stairwell. After first walking it to get used to the area, then going up and down while caging her hold, we succeeded the first try holding on her own.

Jeanne & Sophie: Week 12, Stair Exam 11/15/19

Our practice included walking along a wall while holding the dumb bell. Sophie walked briskly.






We worked the stairwell for the first time, starting with just walking up and down the stairs a few times. Then we added the dumb bell. Walking up was a breeze, but down was harder. After a couple tries, we succeeded in getting a complete up and down without dropping it.

Jeanne & Sophie: Week 11, Retrieve and Hold 11/9/19

Retrieve

Sophie launches quickly for the fetch. She grabs it so fast that I think sometimes she's still moving before she actually has clamped down on it to hold.






Hold Walking

Sophie has no problem walking with the dumb bell in her mouth. She's not always holding it firmly though.

Janet & Riley: Week 10, Retrieve and Hold 11/2/19

Riley was getting sick toward the end of the week so I didn't practice those days. After seeing Dr. Negola, he said to leave her collar off this week to keep pressure off her throat. Not wanting her to go completely without a little practice, I used a larger collar and only did the retrieve and hold since they would put less pressure on her throat. I also did collar high and not snug, loose fold back, and thumb in ear.

I did a couple retrieves sequencing down, then videotaped a couple placed on the step stool. I did the ear correction after 1 second, but it was hard to tell if she held the dumb bell. I think she held it, but just didn't lift her head to pick it up.

She did the walking hold good, but she followed more than heeled.

Jeanne & Sophie: Week 10, Retrieve, Hold and DOR 11/2/19

Retrieve

When sequencing down on the retrieve, Sophie at first will knock the dumb bell a bit when it's on the ground and it startles her. Once she realizes it's ok, and I stabilize it, she gets it.






Hold

Sophie did pretty good on the walking hold. I did let go for a few seconds and she dropped it. I did a quick correction and carried on.






DOR

Sophie does this pretty good as well. We didn't have much room for the finish, but we got it done.
